Not Everyone Can Use Google Search on Mobile by Drawing Circles
Google is trying new ways to get people to search for content on the Internet, and mobile is an obvious target. The company brings AI-led features to its premium devices and Samsung also gets to taste these additions in a unique way.
Search is now available on mobile and you don’t have to click on search to get more information. All you have to do is draw a circle on any image to get information about a product or any product on the Internet. That’s right, Google calls it Circle to Search, and you can just search using circles. If you get a Samsung phone, you can do this drawing with the S Pen that comes with the Galaxy S24 Ultra model. In addition to circling, you can also highlight text or even scratch out items you want to search for.
Google introduced Lens to bring interactive search capabilities to mobile devices and eventually the web. But with the searchable circle and focus on AI, it feels like the next possible evolution of search, at least in the short term until something fancier comes along.
Even with Lens, you had to click the screenshot first and then put it in the search results. Circle lets you search by simply long-pressing the home button to activate the function, then tagging an item or image to let Google’s AI do the work.
But as we said before, Google’s new search method will be limited to the Google Pixel 8 Pro and Galaxy S24 models when it launches on the 31st. January. As for other premium Android phones, they will probably get it later this year. We want to try this feature, which will be updated to the Google app for Android and iOS users, but only in the US.
